How does it work?
Migrastick has a double action: a cooling effect + Massage on acupressure points
MIGRASTICK applied to the skin has a cooling effect caused by evaporation of the essential oils.
MIGRASTICK is massaged on the forehead, temples and back of the neck, which are acupressure sensible points for treatment of headaches and migraines
Through massage and its cooling effect MIGRASTICK alleviates the pain caused by headaches and migraines.
  • Already in 460-337 BC Hippocrates described the use of ice and snow packs before surgery.
  • It's a classical, worldwide and effective habit to locally apply ice cubes or cold packs on the hurting body zone for some time in order to alleviate the pain. Therefore external cooling or so called "cold therapy" is an traditional well known alternative to manage pain.
  • Such relieving pain effects on migraine & headaches have been demonstrated by scientists for a long time (Diamond S. and Freitag F. (1986).
  • It works but how does it work ?
Acupressure and massage:
Massage and acupression have a history of many years of use by the Vietnamese people in the treatment of diseases, and they can give wonderful therapeutic effects in painful syndromes and chronic diseases, etc...
Acupressure is related to acupuncture. It has been shown by scientists that it's an effective therapy that helps reduce headache pain [Howard D., 1976; Hu J.,1998; Brust H. (1998); Kevan R. et al., 1997. Acupressure involves the application of pressure to certain areas of the body and results in the relaxation of fibres which affect the nerves that begin at the point pressed.
The practice of acupressure is based on a theory of meridians by which "energy" flow through the body. There are 12 main meridians, six of which are yin and six are yang. Should blockages occur along the meridian system, pain or other problems may result.
For instance, headaches are caused by energy blockage at the base of the skull and in the forehead and temples. Acupressure facilitates unblocking obstructed energy flow [Mercati M., 1998].
Thai massage is also based on the intrinsic energy flow. This technique is used in the most common forms of chronic pain (back pain, headaches, neck pain.).
For headaches, several points can be pressed to relax the muscles of the head and neck. These are the "Feng Chih", on the neck at the base of the skull (main point for treatment of migraine and histamine cephalgia headaches), and the "Tai Yang", on the side of the face near the temples (main point for treatment of tension headaches).
Even individuals who know nothing about acupressure often instinctively massage these areas when they have a severe headache.
